Milla Jovovich: Smokin' Hot!

Last night, actress Milla Jovovich (best known for the "Resident Evil" film franchises) shined (literally) at the "Three Musketeers" premiere in no other place than London, in a Salvatore Ferragamo sequined slit gown from the Fall 2011 RTW collection, silver clutch, diamond rings, and black Christian Louboutin peep toe pumps. She looked stunning! What really caught my eye was the choice of makeup she used to go with her outfit; she matched her outfit with sultry, grey-silver smokey eyes, a very light coral blush and cherry red lips.

Here's a how-to look, inspired by Milla's smokey eyes:

Eyes: Start with a eyeshadow base. I like NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base ($24 at Sephora).

Apply MAC Print ($15 at MACCosmetics.com, MAC Counters) all over the lid.

You're going to want a shimmery, light, metallic gray eyeshadow. MAKE UP FOREVER's Slate Grey ($19 at Sephora) has a shimmery and vibrant grey best used on the middle lid. Blend that a little with MAC Paint so it doesn't look like it's in layers.

Here's the fun part: a black eyeshadow! Black eyeshadow is sold everywhere and is one of the most used eyeshadow colors so it doesn't have to be expensive. You just need a matte eyeshadow for this. NYX Single Eyeshadow in Black ($5 at Ulta) is the perfect pigmented matte eyeshadow if you're looking for cheap. (Alternatives: Illamasqua Lestat, MAC Carbon, Urban Decay Perversion). Apply this all over the outer lid and blend it a little with MUFE Slate Grey and try to bring it out to the outer crease slowly. This is the part where it does the job to make the whole smokey eye stand out. Blend it until you think you're blending it at a consistent amount.

And this is the part where everyone struggles the most with: eyeliner! Except you're using liquid eyeliner so you have to be extra careful when applying. Like the eyeshadow, you don't have to invest so much money in black eyeliner but you'll want to invest your money wisely on a long-lasting, creaseless, waterproof eyeliner that won't make you look like you just cried! A good waterproof liquid eyeliner is Wet N Wild's Black Liquid Eyeliner ($3 at drugstores). (Alternatives: Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Eyeliner, Revlon ColorStay Eye Pen). Apply that on your inner and outer lower lash line.

If you have a pencil brush or any kind of flat eyeliner brush, pat a little of the black eyeshadow on the outer lower lash line.

Mascara is optional but most prefer eyeshadow with it comes to heavy eye makeup. In that case, Tarte Lights, Camera, Flashes! ($19 at Sephora) is one of the best mascaras I've used and by one of the best, I mean that mascaras don't usually cope well with my eyelashes.

Lips: We don't want to be over-the-top with shimmer lipgloss now do we? For bright lips, try NARS Jungle Red Lipstick ($24 at Sephora) and coat it when clear lipgloss. If you're afraid of your lipgloss coming off easily, apply e.l.f. Studio Lip Primer & Plumper ($3 at eyeslipsface.com).

  1. She is gorgeous! I love, love love her looks in the resident evil movies. Even though she's all grimmy and gross she still looks glam somehow. Lovely makeup!
