Jessica Alba: Chic in Manhattan

Warning: Hot mama in town warming up the cold New York weather! (No really, it just hit 70 degrees today!) Jessica Alba has been in town since the weekend with eight-week old daughter Haven Garner for Glamour's 21st annual "Women of the Year" awards. While she's in town, she's been out and about, making occasional stops at Starbucks and shopping. While the actress has always been in style, I found her casual outfit from yesterday (November 7th), simple yet very appealing, something that very much reflects my own style and perfect for the coming chilly weather.

Jessica wore a MaxMara Sargano coat, Vince Camuto Braden suede boots over mildly ripped jeans, a Derek Lam Anthea suede bag and oversized sunglasses from Tod's. Quite a nice look for a casual look in the daytime!

To get her look:

Coat: I found very similar ones from Forever 21 (this is why they have such good marketing!) for under $50! I think this Corp Coat ($22.80) is a good alternative. If you don't care about color, Windsor's Black Wool Coat ($44.50) has oversized lapels, similar to Jessica's coat.

Jeans: I personally am a fan of distressed jeans. Love wearing them during the spring with a pair of ankle boots and sandals. No matter what top you wear with it, they just put the whole "laid-back" look into the outfit. Stores like American Eagle, Abercrombie & Fitch and Hollister have been notable for their ripped jeans and many other stores have also introduced the ripped jeans to their customers. I highly suggest skinny jeans or any non-flare leg jeans if you're going to tuck jeans into boots. PacSun sells a distressed jean legging, the Black Duffy Blue Legging by Bullhead Black (2 for $59) but here is a list of some ripped jeans at American Eagle.

Boots: The exact boots Jessica wore are Vince Camuto Braden boots, which are on sale for $99.90 at Nordstroms. Not a bad price, in my opinion. You can also find similar boots at Urban Outfitters, the BDG Cooperative Suede Wedge Boot ($89) and Maxine High-Heel Boots by Me Too at Lord & Taylor ($99.99).

Scarf: Wrap scarves are in season! I really like this Popcorn Knit Ribbed Eternity Scarf by BDG at Urban Outfitters ($29) and this Scallop Knit Infinity Scarf by Frenchie at Nordstrom ($22) if you like cute. I had no idea these scarves would cost more than $10, even at Forever 21!

Bag: Choosing a gray bag is a nice choice if you're not in for a one-color look. In the end, it all depends on what kind of bag you like. I like Jessica's choice of a shoulder bag. It gives that "New York busy" vibe, if you know know what I mean. If you like cross body bags like me, I think you'll like this Butterfly Cut Out Cross Body Bag at Oasis ($17). There's some cuteness and vintage accents mixed in it.
